Community Connection During COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic changed the way people connected with one another, but it did not change Highpointe Care’s commitment to supporting individuals, families, and the communities we serve.
Throughout this challenging period, we adapted our services to ensure individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities remained connected, engaged, and supported while protecting their health and safety.
Continuing Services Through Technology
When in-person activities became limited, Highpointe Care quickly embraced technology to maintain learning, social interaction, and personal development.
Participants were supported through:
- Virtual classes and interactive workshops
- Online learning sessions tailored to individual goals
- Video conferencing using platforms such as Zoom
- Remote support services and wellness check-ins
- Virtual social activities, games, and group events
- Digital communication with dedicated staff and peers
Whenever possible, participants were assisted in accessing smartphones, tablets, or computers so they could continue participating in services without interruption.
Supporting the Wider Community
Our commitment extended beyond our participants.
Recognizing the economic challenges faced by many families and small businesses, Highpointe Care sought opportunities to support local communities through donations, volunteer service, and partnerships with organizations serving those in need.
We also supported community initiatives such as food assistance programs and outreach efforts that helped vulnerable individuals during difficult times.
Caring for Vulnerable Populations
Even during the pandemic, compassion remained central to our mission.
When appropriate and in accordance with public health guidance, our team continued supporting vulnerable members of the community, including older adults and individuals requiring additional assistance, while following recommended health and safety protocols.
Stronger Together
The pandemic reminded us that strong communities are built through compassion, collaboration, and resilience.
Although circumstances changed, our commitment to helping individuals remain connected, supported, and included never wavered. Those experiences strengthened our belief that meaningful relationships and community support are essential during both ordinary times and extraordinary challenges.
Highpointe Care
Supporting Individuals. Strengthening Communities. Inspiring Hope.
