Complete Overview

About Our Adult Day Program

Highpointe Care offers professional, community-based day programs vendored through California Regional Centers. Our community-based day services are geared towards ensuring that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) experience productive days, meaningful social connections, and healthy doses of personal fulfillment.

Aligned with the California Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act and the Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Final Rule, our adult day services give intellectually and developmentally challenged individuals the opportunity to engage in person-centered activities that help them bond with the community and stretch themselves to realize personal potential. These activities include leisure and sports activities, employment sourcing and support, religious activities, shopping and breaking bread with other individuals, volunteering, and attending classes in neighboring colleges.

Activities to Achieve Independence and Boost Self-Esteem

Our community-based day service aims to help individuals overcome their challenges and be reintegrated into society as efficiently as possible. Thus, our day services incorporate activities that help individuals feel better about life and themselves while challenging them to reach for the realization of their potentials. Activities that we guide our individuals to do, to increase their independence and boost their self-esteem include volunteering, recreational and sports activities, and shopping. In each of these activities, individuals are guided by our helpful support workers in such a way that they have a sense of doing on their own.

Community Volunteering & Meaningful Giving

Our wonderfully unique individuals have, in times past, been aided and guided to offer volunteer services at locations including:

  • Non-profit Organizations
  • Thrift Stores & Retail Training Hubs
  • Food Banks & Community Pantries
  • Churches & Faith-Based Centers

Recreational & Cultural Enrichment

Recreational activities greatly help in making individuals feel relaxed and happy with themselves and create the kind of positive energy they need to thrive. Recreational activities that they, with our help, engage in during day programs include:

  • Bowling & Active Sports Leagues
  • Golf & Mini-Golf Outings
  • Movies & Theater Visits
  • Amusement Parks & Botanical Gardens
  • Museums, Galleries & Cultural Exhibits
  • Local Farmers Markets & Farm Tours

Like everything else that we do at Highpointe Care, these services are customized to suit the peculiar needs of individuals and make them better community players with a sense of altruism and team spirit.
